Yeah, no update last Sunday... it's in the works now though so it'll be up Thursday. Also, I've written a bit more of next chapter's script; it's looking like this will be a long one, unless I cut bits out. Which is what I'll probably end up doing. TTFN, and all that...

I hate today's page. Well, no, I take that back. I hate the colouring on today's page. 'Course it might have helped if I'd bothered to find a ruler when I was drawing the backgrounds too, but that's kind of minor to me. So yeah... I haven't even started on Thursday's page, but I can say for certain that I'll have it uploaded on time. Can't miss one now that I'm so close to going an entire month... *devious grin* And soon HR shall take over the world.
Or not. I s'pose I'd really ought to figure out how to do large areas of metal. Yes, that's supposed to be metal in the first panel. It didn't work too well. I can do small speculars just fine, I've been doing them for ages. But... okay, I think I just figured it out thinking about it right here.... Disregard all that, then. Experiments next page (woot!).
--
Other stuff:
I'll update the characters and story pages once I finish with Scene 2 (yes, we're on Scene 2). Two more scenes in Chapter One after that and then it's on to Chapter Two. After looking at the (entire) script I've upped my page estimate to 32 or so for Chapter One. Since we're at, what, eight now, that means about three months 'til the end of the chapter, which makes it relatively short. And yes, THERE WILL BE ACTION within a week or two.
I'm also going to be periodically doing wallpapers, I think. No real reason except that they're fun to do, being as I have more than a 700x900 page to work with. I've already go one from ages ago that I'm not putting up yet since the character hasn't been introduced. But, he'll come in at the end of the chapter so I'll probably start the section then.

Just a quick update, Sunday's page is drawn and inked. I'll colour it either tonight or tomorrow, and hopefully I'll be able to start next Thursday's page on Saturday. Oh, and I've also figured out that Chapter One should (this isn't definite) have 26 pages, counting the cover. More on this after I find the last page of the script....

EDIT: Just looked back at today's page, and I'm quite happy with how it turned out. Especially the shading on the top frame; originally it was going to just be a silhouette, but I figured I'd do a bit more with it.... And I guess the grass didn't turn out all that badly, though I'd have liked to have adjusted the blur a bit more.

Yay! Another update done on time! Only took about two and a half hours to do this page, though it really is kinda sparse.... I like how the dust, cloud, and engine effects worked though. I did the dust differently from the last page, which is why it shows up much more clearly. Still can't get the grass quite right, but that may be because I rushed it a bit, too.... I know how to do it; I just can't bring myself to spend a lot of time on it. Maybe when it's more prominent in the page....
Anyway, I've got a storyboard for Sunday's page; I just need to figure out exactly what the layout will be. Now things begin to get interesting....
And on a random note, ONOMATOPOEIA!!! I finally used it in a page! *happy dance*

AP English exam tomorrow, so I'll probably end up drawing Sunday's page in my two free hours afterward. I'm hoping I can get some buffer built up again for when I can't figure out how the pages are supposed to look.
Oh, and I've finally gotten a proper tangent for Chapter Two's script to go off on. So I should have it finished (I'm on Scene 2 currently) within a few weeks, hopefully before I finish up Chapter One. At the current rate it looks like I'll be through with One in... about two or three months from now. So yeah... with any luck I'll have Chapter Three's script written by then.

Sunday's page is finally done *happy dance*. Took bloody well long enough, too. I coloured it three times before I got it right, and re-did the lineart at least as many times. I did a few experiments in this one, but nothing too drastically changed from what I'd been doing. So yeah... not much else to say.

Fixed the issue with buttons not showing up on archived pages. I also fixed some broken links on the Links page and updated a few whose comics had moved. I also added Fallen Angels Used Books and Reasoned Cognition to the "Other Comics" list.

I've updated pages again, fixing the page headers and also adding the advertisement code that I somehow forgot to put on when I built the pages in the first place. I've also wiped the archives. All the pre-restart pages are gone, so the First Comic button actually works and takes you to the Chapter One cover now.
As for updates, I've finished the GenChan, uploaded it to the main ComicGenesis site, and have gone back to working on page 4 (7, if you want to be technical). I had it mostly coloured but I decided to redraw it, so I've basically got finished lineart and not much else. With any luck I'll have it and another page done over the weekend.

I've taken a break from drawing next Sunday's page and am now working on a GenChan for the CGen main page. But, I will have the comic done in time for the update. As well as more, to keep up buffer. Speaking of updates, it looks like AutoUpdate turned itself off, so I turned it back on and it should work properly for this Sunday's update.
A tout a l'heure, or whatever :P

Woot! Finally an update! I guess I need to reconfigure the AutoUpdate since it appears not to be working... Dunno if it's a relic of the Keenspace-ComicGenesis changeover or what. Can you tell I've been out of the loop for far too long?
Meh... at least I didn't go posting urgent "Help meh pleeese!11!1!" messages on the Forums.... Anyways, I kind of like the new setup. Cheers to everyone who put that site together for making it infinitely easier to navigate and use than the old setup.
In other news, next update goes up on Sunday, whether I have to do it manually or not. Also, the Story, Cast, and Lnks pages are updated. I plan to add more to each within the next week or so, especially to links since half the comics I've linked are either dead or hiatus'd.
Davidson out.
Oh! Almost forgot, I'm halfway through a page for Sunday after next, so with any luck I'll keep up the update schedule.

Third new page is finished and all are uploaded. I haven't started on a fourth yet but I suppose that'll happen tonight. I've also updated the Links and Story pages. I'm not sure if they'll go up tonight when auto-updates go through, or if they'll wait for the new page on Thursday (spelled it right that time :P). It's been so long that I've all but forgotten how the system works. I'm almost of a mind to go and run through the Forums again but I seriously doubt that'll happen anytime soon.

Ahem. Now that that's done with (omigodtheworldisgonnaendeventhoughitsbeensixmonthssincethelastpageandineedtoputthemupforawholemonthbeforeitcounts).... I'm ATM working on ship classes and designs, primarily for the UNESF forces. Coming along pretty well now that I have some idea of what I'm doing. I'm thinking of modelling them in gmax for reference, but if nothing else once I get basic schematics drawn up I'll post them on the site in a sort of database.
And now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to go dye Easter eggs.

So I don't know if I'll ever get back to Honour's Requiem, for the, what is it now, third, fourth time? It always seems to die once I start it, even if the ideas are there. I think last time it seemed just to be a burden, as I had a script but just couldn't draw from it. Dunno. I've got more ideas for comics/graphic novels floating around now too, some that have been there for a while (Dreamscape) and some that are relatively new (As Yet Untitled).
On another note, I think that might even be the title for the story. I can't really think of one that'll fit it (even though I know pretty much what happens, or what should happen based on the characters). And that's another thing: AYU is more random than my other stories because I have no idea what characters will end up being in it. Dana was completely random, created because I needed a name to come before Kristina's. I had no idea that the inquisitive girl in the corner would turn into Taegan, or that Tycho would actually ask her out the first time he met her. So I guess I don't really know where the story is going; I just have a direction and the characters can decide whether or not they want to look at the map along the way. More likely they won't. But, I guess that's what makes a plot good, no?
So I guess that works, then. *goes off to work some more on As Yet Untitled*

Before I put anything else in let me just say that this is an archive post for myself, so I have this on the 'net where it (hopefully) won't get deleted and where I can't lose it like I've lost so many other things. I'd post it as a private entry so as to keep down the clutter, but I don't want to risk losing my password and thus losing the post.
Notes to myself:
-I've had to remake the conjugations for the 'at and 'ath verbs; if I find them I'll update. -Conjugations for 'it are the original. -List of verbs includes those in Vin. Access db. -Irr. verb nava'it has no conj., remake.

I keep forgetting to post this, so I guess I'd better do it now. Since I've re-started Honour's Requiem from the beginning, I'm going to pull out all the old archived pages so that the navigation works properly, and the "first page" button puts you on 24 July's page. I'll probably keep the old pages around in some out-of-the-way gallery or something; I'm not sure yet. Anyways, if all the old stuff (pages before 24 July '05) disappears, this is why.

And so it's launched. Link here if you're reading this off site. The new page looks worse than it should in terms of jpeg artifacts and whatnot, but that could just be my browser; it's somewhat notorious for doing that. Site design works, from what I can tell, and it sure as heck looks better than the old site. Update schedule now is Sunday Thursday. Umm... not much else to say right now other than 'it's about bloody time'. RLC out.

Well, it looks like the big announcement is finally here. Honour's Requiem goes public (again) Sunday. Woot woot, three cheers and all that. Say I - Creed |
] |
I finished the script for Chapter One yesterday, and divided my timeline into chapters. So far it looks like there'll be eleven chapters in the whole story, and surprisingly enough my predicitons for where stuff would show up turned out to be accurate (chapter-wise). And if that last bit didn't make sense, don't ask. It's just random rambling.
Anyways, I'm not entirely sure I'm going to start drawing now, or if I'm going to script Chapter Two first. I've got some ideas about it but I'm definitely going to scrap my old plan for it; it just won't work. When I do start drawing I'll be hoping for a page a day, but I know that's optimistic, given that it usually takes about six hours to finish a page, and that was last year when my style was a lot simpler. But then, I've gotten better in the last year, especially in terms of speed. So it may even out. Now all I need to do is to figure out whether I'm going to do my lines by hand or do everything digitally. It changes the style a bit, but doing in on paper is faster than digital; the only trouble is that I have to ink my lineart because playing around with curves on pencilled lines doesn't always work that well. Inking it means that it takes more time, and gives me more chance to screw up. That plus the fact that Microns are *expensive*. So I'm not sure yet. The Chapter One title is digital, but I'm thinking of scrapping it and doing it by hand.
Whatever ends up happening, I'm going to wait until I have at least three weeks' buffer before I start posting finished pages. My tentative update schedule is three pages a week, but that may change to two depending on how quickly I can get them done. The last time I tried three a week I could never update on time. But, then, I didn't have a script written that time, so that might have had something to do with it.... So yeah, re-launching looks to be not far off. I can't wait.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. I totally re-wrote the backstory on Remie. <--Random note.
